World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE Damage.
If the weapon's upgrade template is in %, the weapon will gain an additional 3% of the previous damage for every time it is upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide an additional stat boost or effect while they're in use. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment with a slot for them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade may include a suffix or prefix changing the name of the item to which it is applied (for examplefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment using less Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can modify the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.
Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of an item will be dropped in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of how much they'll improve after a future reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process may be costly, and there is a high risk that the item may become obsolete or even break when it fails. A failed upgrade will ruin the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the chance of failure. Certain upgrades also provide an additional bonus when they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, and include any existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible to level 15.
In the endgame you'll often discover that the best way to improve your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15, and they provide a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes much faster.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs and there are some rare glyphs to be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will require them to be put on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, which is why it is best to place Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids, for instance should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might be able to place them near their critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The item upgrading system allows players to increase the stats of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each item level requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab in crafting tables. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.
When a player upgrades the equipment they have it will be replaced by the new item. This means that the same armor piece will become a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also come with a bonus of its own. This could be a drawback because it can make the item more expensive, even if you don't require it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do this. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. upgrade item is a good idea, but should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their equipment. upgrade item is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the maximum roll by 10 points. This item can be very valuable in PvP, as the best version of it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to increase the level of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set and upgrades to weapon items increase their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.
All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception of hero gear, which can be upgraded up to eight times. Each time you upgrade an object, it has a chance of failing. The rate of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures can result in the item reverting back to its original state, which will force the user to spend more money on materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.
If an item does not upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it earned, such as chances to be crit attack damage, other effects (such as a higher healing rate over time or reloading speed). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that should a weapon gain an increase in the chance of crit, the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a typical equipment item may have five upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will have a much lower cost for each upgrade.
Premium items could require different upgrades than normal equipment. For instance, they may need less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Regardless, the player must visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade will require a different amount of the ingredients for upgrading.
